Dr. Sameldin Mirghani Abdelrahim Mohamed is a distinguished Sudanese medical doctor with a rich and varied career spanning several decades. Born and raised in Sudan, Dr. Mirghani's passion for medicine led him to pursue a career dedicated to serving others and improving healthcare systems in various regions.
Dr. Mirghani began his professional journey in 1985, serving as a medical officer and general practitioner for the Sudan Ministry of Health (MOH). During his tenure with the MOH, he gained valuable experience in primary healthcare and community medicine, laying the foundation for his future endeavors.
In 1992, Dr. Mirghani embarked on a humanitarian mission, joining the Islamic Relief Agency (ISRA) in Pakistan and Afghanistan. He dedicated four years to providing medical assistance, relief, and rehabilitation services to Afghan refugees, demonstrating his commitment to humanitarian causes and serving marginalized populations.
From 1996 to 2004, Dr. Mirghani continued his humanitarian work with Health Net International (HNI), now known as HealthNet International/Trans Psychological Organization (HNI/TPO). As part of this Dutch International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO), he played a pivotal role in establishing sustainable health development structures in post-conflict Afghanistan, contributing to the rebuilding of healthcare systems and promoting community health and rehabilitation initiatives.
In 2004, Dr. Mirghani's expertise and dedication led him to the United Nations World Health Organization (WHO), where he served in the African Region zone in Nigeria for over a decade. During his tenure with WHO, he worked on various public health projects, focusing on disease prevention, health promotion, and strengthening healthcare delivery systems to improve health outcomes in underserved communities.
In 2020, Dr. Mirghani embarked on a new chapter in his career, joining Maxim Healthcare Services in California, USA, where he continues to practice medicine on a part-time basis. Additionally, he lends his expertise to No Ordinary Moment (NOM), a California-based organization specializing in disability rehabilitation and chronic mental disability cases, where he has been involved since 2023.
